My background

My Vinyasa Practice reviews (200-Hour & 300-hour Online YTT): honest student insight

I first found My Vinyasa Practice while looking for a reputable online yoga teacher training during the pandemic. Already RYT-200 certified from an in-person training in 2018, I enrolled in MVP’s 300-hour online YTT. It was so transformative that I went back and completed their 200-hour YTT too — in reverse order!

This review focuses on my experience with the 200-hour program, but I also briefly compare it to the 300-hour where relevant.

School History and Ethos

My Vinyasa Practice is a yoga studio and teacher training school based in Austin, Texas. Led by Michelle Young, it offers online and in-person yoga teacher training and other yoga certifications ranging from 200 hour foundational training to CE courses.

The school was founded with the intention to remain authentic, affordable, and accessible for all students.

Recognizing the diverse student population, My Vinyasa Practice divide cohorts of students, ensuring the grouping of similar time zones. It also offers support calls and office hours throughout the day to ensure students can easily access assistance and information.

Comparing the 200-Hour vs. 300-Hour Experience

Having completed both programs, here’s how I would describe the difference:

  • The 200-hour is more foundational, ideal for beginners or those transitioning into yoga teaching.
  • The 300-hour dives deeper into restorative practices, advanced sequencing, and offers more autonomy in learning structure.
  • Both programs are self-paced, but the 300-hour requires more independent integration and reflective journaling.

If you’re already certified at the 200-hour level and want to specialize, the 300-hour may be a better fit. But if you’re just starting out or re-certifying online, the 200-hour training is comprehensive and well-supported.

Direct Support

My Vinyasa Practice has an outstanding peer support team, available 24/7 to answer questions or concerns.

I was able to receive a response to any questions I had within 24 hours, and any corrections were implemented almost immediately.

The online 200-hour teacher training also includes direct contact with the lead trainers, with office hours allocated for trainee support every week.

Accessibility & Platform Experience

• New platform with smoother video streaming and integrated assessments
• Mobile app lets you study anywhere — I did this while traveling
• Videos with captions & audio controls – great for accessibility
• Peer support team replies within 24 hours, often faster

How MVP Helped Me Grow

Before this course, I felt hesitant to teach all-level classes. MVP taught me:

  • How to sequence for different needs
  • How to apply subtle body theory in real classes
  • How to modify for trauma or limited mobility

After completing the program, I confidently began teaching veterans, military families, and diverse student populations.
