Hands-on Learning
The Peaceful Warriors 200-Hour online teacher training is divided into 8 modules, each digging deeper into yoga and teaching.
I appreciated the balanced integration of theory and practice in the course. Each week, I dedicated two hours to theoretical learning and an equal amount to practical application, totalling about four hours of study.
These modules cover everything you need to know as a yoga teacher:
- Yoga Anatomy & Physiology (30 Hours): Not just memorizing anatomy, but understanding how our bodies work and how yoga affects them.
- Yoga History (10 Hours): Tools for practice and life, and the evolution of yoga into modern forms.
- Yoga Philosophy & Lifestyle (15 Hours): Yoga principles and how they apply to life beyond the mat.
- Asana/Posture Alignment & Teaching Lab (25 Hours): Postures and breathing techniques, alignment and sequencing.
- The Subtle Body, Pranayama & Meditation (20 Hours): Breath as life force, the subtle body and chakras.
- Hatha & Vinyasa Practice & Sequencing (80 Hours): Practice with various teachers to find your own teaching style.
- Teaching Different Demographics (10 Hours): Advanced practices and adaptations for children, the elderly and pregnant women.
- Business for Yogis (10 Hours): Practical advice for building a yoga career, marketing and workshops.
Asana Breakdown
Taking this yoga course was a game-changer for me, especially the extensive asana content provided. Every posture was thoroughly explained through instructional videos and detailed manuals, including step-by-step instructions that helped deepen my understanding and practice.
Our primary instructor, Maria Frisch, is exceptional in demonstrating the poses, crucial modifications, and alignment tips that have made all the difference.
Her tips are really enlightening (like ensuring your feet are parallel in Chair Pose and imagining a chair behind you to perfect the form, for example!) The focus on proper alignment enhanced my practice and taught me how to avoid injuries.
The Asana manual is thorough, covering every necessary detail, from alignment tips specific to each body part to the benefits and risks associated with each posture. It also included modifications and contraindications, leaving no stone unturned and providing a comprehensive resource for tailoring practices to meet individual needs.
A unique and invaluable aspect of the course was the interactive feedback sessions. After each recorded class, we were tasked to film ourselves as if we were teaching a sequence. Submitting these videos and receiving personalized teacher feedback helped build my confidence, which is crucial in online learning.
The feedback I received during the Asana Lab sessions was incredibly constructive, significantly improving my asanas and teaching skills. This course didn’t just teach me about yoga; it transformed how I approach teaching and practising yoga profoundly, inspiring me to continue my journey with renewed motivation and eagerness for further transformation..
Certification and Recognition
One of the reasons I chose this course was the Yoga Alliance accreditation, which gives credibility and opens up professional opportunities.
I also liked the variety of over 10 experienced teachers, each with expertise in different yoga styles, physiotherapy, nutrition, meditation and more.
The course has great support, with a one-on-one intro call, email support, a Facebook group, and other resources, so I felt connected and supported throughout the online course.
Technology Requirements and Platform Experience
The course is on an easy-to-use platform with simple navigation and a clean design. You can track your progress and go back to lessons easily, which was great for balancing other commitments.
The platform is mobile-friendly, so you can learn on the go. It has recorded classes, assignment submissions via email, and notifications about final exams in the Facebook group, so you stay engaged and connected throughout the course.
Connection and Interaction
Once you enroll you’ll be added to a Facebook group where you can connect with fellow participants, share your thoughts and support each other throughout the course.
Live interaction begins with an initial one-on-one call shortly after you start the course.
While most of the content is pre-recorded (previous live classes and Q&A’s), there’s still plenty of opportunities for real time interaction.
After each assignment, you’ll get personalized feedback via email and if needed you can schedule additional calls with instructors to clarify or go deeper.
I thought this community aspect might be weak since the group was pretty quiet, but during my first call with Maria I was pleasantly surprised.
She offered to connect me with other students who had just joined and were at the same stage as me so we could help each other and share our experiences.
Priceless Impact
The course had a big impact on me, and I’m still integrating the knowledge. I feel I can now lead classes confidently, adjust students effectively, and design safe and well-sequenced practices.
200 hours over 8 modules. Flexible, you progress at your own pace. To complete the course you need to finish all modules, submit assignments and meet participation requirements.
The business module provides practical advice for a successful yoga career, making the course a good investment for serious practitioners. With lifetime access to the course content, you can review and learn forever.
Requirements
• Video Assignments: Record yourself demonstrating alignment, breath cues for various asanas, transitions. You can either guide yourself through the sequence or teach it to a friend or family member.
• Sequence Creation: Submit a written Hatha or Vinyasa sequence. You will also teach a 20-minute portion of this sequence live via Zoom.
If you put in about 6 hours a week into the course you can complete it in about 8 months. Of course this will depend on how much time you can commit to the classes. If you can fully dedicate yourself to the course you can finish it in up to 3 months.
Teaching Practice
As my first yoga teacher training this course was super valuable for deepening my theoretical knowledge and practical skills.
The detailed breakdown of yoga philosophy, anatomy and Asana alignment was really helpful.
For example I used to struggle with Warrior II. Through the course I learned that the pelvis should be facing the side not squaring the hips.
This little adjustment has made a big difference in my practice and my alignment and comfort in the pose.
The feedback I got after teaching labs was considerably helpful in refining my technique and teaching approach.
The business module gave me practical strategies for building a successful yoga career and with lifetime access to the course materials this is a long term investment.
I also chose to go deeper with an additional 25 hour meditation course for an extra fee and Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider. This is taking it to the next level.
