Visited in: August 2025 – 3-night stay in a jungle pool villa
Just a short drive from central Ubud, the Purist Villas offers a peaceful sanctuary that invites rest, reflection, and reconnection with nature.
Whether visiting for a romantic escape, a wellness retreat, or quiet solitude, this boutique resort gently envelops you in understated luxury from the moment you arrive.
First impressions and arrival
Getting to the Purist is simple. Located about ten minutes from Ubud’s center, the resort offers a complimentary shuttle multiple times per day. Upon arrival, I was greeted with a cool towel, herbal tea, and warm smiles.
The staff remembered my name, preferences, and even asked about my travel plans.
The grounds are filled with tropical plants, koi ponds, and thoughtfully designed walkways. Every corner feels quiet and intentional. Every moment invites you to slow down.
Villa experience and amenities
My jungle pool villa offered total privacy. The design was a blend of traditional Balinese architecture and contemporary comfort. The thatched roof, hand-carved wood, and soft natural lighting created a calming space.
The villa featured a private pool surrounded by dense greenery, a deep stone bathtub, and an eco-conscious minibar with local snacks.
The bath products were all-natural and included chocolate mint body lotion, shampoo, and conditioner in reusable bottles. Gentle ambient music played when I entered, instantly relaxing the mood.
Dining and breakfast
Breakfast at the Purist is a delight. Delivered to your villa, it arrives beautifully plated and full of fresh, plant-based options. Smoothie bowls with dragon fruit, chia pudding, tropical fruit, and herbal teas are just a few highlights.
The on-site restaurant, Cafe Aria, offers a range of Balinese and international dishes with excellent vegan and gluten-free choices. The grilled tempeh with turmeric rice was especially satisfying. Staff were knowledgeable about dietary needs and happy to customize orders.
Spa and wellness experiences
The Purist Spa is open-air and surrounded by greenery. I booked the Balinese massage, which was both grounding and restorative. The therapist was highly skilled and intuitive.
Guests can also enjoy a flower bath either in the spa or in their villa. My bath included frangipani, hibiscus, and rose petals with candlelight and soft traditional music in the background. It was a perfect way to end the evening.
Staff and service
The service at the Purist was consistent and personal. Staff remembered small details like my favorite breakfast juice and asked if I needed transportation each morning. The tone was never formal or forced, only thoughtful and kind.
A handwritten note with a quote was placed on the bed each night. On my final day, I received a complimentary fresh coconut with a thank-you card. These little touches made the experience feel personal and genuine.
Location and surroundings
While the resort feels secluded, it is easy to access central Ubud via the free shuttle. The shuttle runs several times during the day and evening. Scooters and bicycles are also available for rent at the front desk.
Nearby attractions include the Campuhan Ridge Walk, Ubud Palace, and several art galleries and yoga studios. Staff can help book tours, transport, or private guides.
Who this is for
The Purist Villas is ideal for couples, solo travelers, wellness enthusiasts, and anyone seeking privacy and peace. It is especially suited for vegan travelers or those looking for plant-based cuisine.
This is not the right place for nightlife or party seekers. The resort is designed for relaxation, healing, and quiet luxury.
Tips for your stay
Bring light clothing, insect repellent, and comfortable sandals. If you are a light sleeper, request a villa farther from the main road. Book spa treatments in advance, especially during peak season. Do not miss the flower bath.
