The cashew tree

Atop the Bingin cliff, a short walk from the beach, surrounded by jungle, lies an open, spacious cafe called The Cashew Tree. The family owned cafe embodies the mellow beach vibe of the Bukit, with Indonesian style alang alang roofs (traditional roofs made from grass) and jungle plants all around. More than a restaurant, they offer yoga classes Wednesday through Saturday at 8:30 am, and parties every Thursday night with live, rocking music from Oka, Dustin Thomas, and the Tijuana Sound System, to name a few.

Upon entry, an island style bar greets guests. Serving flavorful and healthy juices, coffees, coconuts, and more. Seating across the lawn includes cozy dining spaces with traditional batik pillows (textiles from the island of Java) offered as laid back seating with low profile wooden tables from Bali. For those who do not like floor seating, there are also traditional dining tables in front of the open kitchen.

Everyday, a glass cabinet displays healthy and fresh organic salads, sandwiches, snacks, and desserts. A few popular dishes from the menu include Indonesian style corn fritters, Mexican quesadillas with a little spice, and The Soul Bowl. The menu is full of health conscious, appetizing, and vegetarian choices for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Attracting expats and traveling vagabonds alike, The Cashew Tree is a fun destination when you’re in the Bukit craving a good time and a yummy meal.
