Miyo frozen yogurt in Pererenan, Bali: A first-hand review of Canggu’s go-to froyo spot
Pererenan is a neighbourhood that’s always changing but sometimes a new business comes along and it just feels… right. That’s Miyo Frozen Yogurt for us.
Located on Jl. Pantai Pererenan, just a short walk from Etore Gelato, Zali, and Shelter Restaurant, this newly opened shop brings a simple yet well done frozen yogurt to the table, a neighbourhood that already has heaps of great dessert spots.
After visiting on a warm late afternoon, it quickly became obvious that this is more than just a pretty face on the street, the product is what really sets Miyo apart.
The frozen yogurt
Bali’s heat can make or break a frozen dessert, either it’s a lifesaver or a total letdown. Miyo’s got the perfect texture, it holds up without getting all watery, is smooth, light & creamy without feeling too rich. Which makes it a winner after a beach session or a long walk along Jl. Pantai Pererenan.
Miyo do a classic dairy frozen yogurt & a coconut based one for vegans. The coconut version is especially impressive, loads of plant-based options come across as too sweet or artificial but this one tastes clean & natural.
The coconut flavor comes through without overpowering the yogurt & its smooth rather than icy, making it feel like an afterthought. The dairy version’s got just the right level of tanginess & sweetness & both feels like real attention to detail’s gone into getting it just right.
The toppings selection

The toppings bar’s where it all gets personal. Instead of just doing the usual suspects, Miyo’s gone for a mix that feels perfectly in sync with the vibe of Pererenan. There’s protein chocolate & cookies, lychees, mini mochi & chocolate covered cashews all thrown in.
Having protein based options makes sense here – there’s surfers heading back from the beach, gym bunnies finishing up a workout, remote workers looking for something light & healthy, so it feels like they’ve really listened to the neighbourhood. Plus, there’s plenty of options to get all fancy or keep it pretty simple.
The space & atmosphere
Inside it’s pretty much the same calm, minimal style that does so well in this part of Bali – bright, open & easy going. The design isn’t trying to outdo the product, it’s all about creating a relaxed space that works whether you just want a quick pick-me-up or to catch up with a mate.
The atmosphere’s super laid back – chances are you can just pop in straight from the beach without feeling out of place, but it’s still polished enough to grab a casual dessert with friends.
The people behind Miyo
The shop is owned by siblings Leanne & Mike, who are from the UK, which is pretty evident in the vibe. It feels super genuine & hands on. At a time when lots of new openings feel slick & commercial from the off, there’s something really refreshing about a business that still feels like a genuine passion project.
That realness adds to the overall experience, it doesn’t feel like some big corporate deal. It’s just a cool hip spot, even if the owners aren’t originally from Bali.
Who it’s best for
Miyo just fits in with the everyday rhythm of Pererenan. It’s perfect for a post-surf cool down, a light treat that doesn’t feel too guilty, or a sweet option that caters to vegan & dairy free diets without sacrificing anything.
It’s approachable, super easy to go back to & in a great spot for anyone strolling along Jl. Pantai Pererenan.
Opening a new dessert spot in Pererenan’s a tough gig – the competition’s fierce & expectations are high. But Miyo manage to pull off that neat trick of being both super niche & broadly appealing at the same time.
They’re not trying to change the face of desserts in Bali – just getting frozen yogurt right, with some genuine thought put into their options & their audience.

If you’re passing by, do pop in, you might mean to just grab a small cup, but once you see the toppings, things can get a mite more complicated than that!

I randomly found this article while browsing and it was actually a nice discovery. The place sounds simple but in a good way, not too flashy or complicated. Now I kinda want to go there just to see if the frozen yogurt really taste as good as described.
Very enjoyable read. The place sounds cozy and different from bigger commercial dessert shops. Curious to see it in person now.

Never realized Pererenan had so many interesting little places. This review makes the area feel even more appealing. Will explore more next time.
I appreciate that the review talks about the vibe of the shop. That often matters as much as the food. It sounds like a relaxing place to sit for a bit.
This makes me want to do a frozen yogurt tour around Bali honestly. Always fun to discover new small spots. Thanks for sharing this.
I passed this place last month and didn’t stop because I wasn’t sure. Now I kind of regret it. Next time I won’t hesitate.
Good review, very informative. I like when articles mention both positives and small observations instead of only praise. Feels more real.
The description of the flavors actually made me hungry while reading. Especially the coconut one. Sounds simple but very good.
Good post! We will be linking to this particularly great post on our site. Keep up the great writing
I’ve been trying to explore more cafes around Canggu and Pererenan so this was helpful. Never heard of Miyo before. Now it’s on my list.
Really liked how honest this review feels. It doesn’t sound overly promotional which is refreshing. Makes me trust the recommendation more.
I’m always looking for good frozen yogurt in Bali and it’s harder than people think. This review makes Miyo sound like one of the better ones. Will probably check it soon.
Nice write up. The toppings selection sounds fun and not the usual boring choices. I appreciate reviews that mention small details like that.
I didn’t even know they had dairy free options, that’s actually very good to know. So many places in Bali still don’t offer that. Definitely makes me more interested.
This article makes the place feel very inviting. I like when reviews describe the atmosphere and not only the food. It helps imagine the experience better.
Great review, very clear and easy to read. I walked by Miyo before but didn’t know if it was worth it. After reading this I think I should have just gone in and tried it.
I read this at the perfect time because I was literally searching for new dessert spots in Pererenan. The place sounds really nice and not too touristy which I like. Now I’m curious to try the coconut flavor everyone keeps talking about.
