Sayulita has become a hub for yoga on the Mexican west coast. If you are visiting this charming little surf town, don’t forget to join a yoga class at Paraiso Yoga. This lovely studio is located just a short stroll from the beach. The perfect place to strengthen and stretch your body, before or after catching a wave.
Do you, like a lot of Canadians and Americans, escape the cold winter months and relocate to Sayulita for a while? Here you can eat your warm, sunny heart out! They provide a variety of yoga (Hatha, Vinyasa, Yin, Power flow, Kundalini) and instructors to choose from. So wherever you are on your yoga journey, you will find a class that suits you. On Friday evening they even offer a donation-based community class. We really liked this initiative, which makes yoga accessible to everybody.
The owner Narayani has been a passionate yogini for 14 years. As a certified Hatha and Ashtanga Yoga teacher, and Thai Massage therapist she spent many years teaching in Argentina, Brazil, London, Thailand, and Mexico. In 2007 she created Paraiso Yoga where she shares her knowledge about body, mind and soul, and offers a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training course every year.
Our yoga instructor Carrie took us through an easy Vinyasa class. She was very knowledgeable and caters to various levels. We absolutely loved the calming guitar music she played during this class. Such a wonderful start to our Saturday morning!
We fell in love with the luscious garden, full of tropical flowers and beautifully decorated Buddha statues. A peaceful oasis to hang out in and totally forget that you are actually in a town. The yoga is taught on a rooftop yoga deck, where a refreshing ocean breeze is very welcoming.
There are three bungalows where you can stay. Two are simple huts with their own outdoor bathroom. If you have the chance, we suggest you choose the larger bungalow with two double beds complete with a bathroom inside. You may prepare your own food in the community kitchen, or you can easily walk into town and indulge in one of the many options nearby, and grab a healthy shake or bowl.
The mission of Paraiso is to have students leave with a bigger smile on their faces to when they first arrived. Thanks to the very welcoming and helpful staff, this mission has been fully accomplished!
