Headaches can be utterly, and completely debilitating. We could be prone to headaches because of our high-stress schedules or spending time in front of a screen (phone or computer) for copious hours a day.

We tend to (accidentally) dehydrate ourselves and we often overdose on sugars just to keep ourselves going. The only thing you want to do with a headache is retreat to a quiet space, but before dozing in your bed with the shutters closed, we suggest a bath! The recipe below is the key to easing the tension between your temples.

Purpose: This bath opens your pores to allow blood and oxygen to circulate through your head, thus alleviating headaches. We have varying combinations of ingredients, which may be used for differing pains.

For any headache: 2 drops of peppermint oil on a compress for the forehead, or 5 drops for the bath
For neck or eyestrains: 2 drops of lavender oil on a compress for the forehead, or 5 drops for the bath
For gastric or nervous system tension: 2 drops of chamomile oil on a compress for the forehead, or 5 drops for the bath

Optional: Add 3 drops of eucalyptus oil for a sinus headache

How to: Before you begin your bath, rub a small amount of lavender oil on the back of your neck. Soak into the hot water, and put a towel filled with ice on your forehead or your head. Put one drop of the oil appropriate for your type of headache on each finger, and massage your temples and the base of your skull.

Breathe in slowly through your nose, and release the breath through your mouth. Visualize the air you breathe to be white and clear, and releasing any pain and negativity. See it evaporating away from you and try to rest after the bath.
