Ubud Organic Farmers Market: Small but bursting with soul

If you’re in Ubud on a Wednesday or Saturday morning, do yourself a favor: skip the hotel buffet and wander over to one of Ubud’s hidden gems—the Organic Farmers Market. It’s not massive. No hype. No tourist traps. Just a quiet collection of passionate locals doing what they love—growing, crafting, baking, blending, and sharing.

A market with roots in the community

Every Saturday, you’ll find this little oasis in front of Pizza Bagus. On Wednesdays, it pops up again at Kafé Arma. Both venues are low-key, local favorites—and they set the perfect scene for something that’s meant to feel organic in every sense of the word.

It’s not a massive spread (usually fewer than a dozen vendors), but what it lacks in size, it makes up for in spirit. And flavor.

What you’ll find (and love)

Walk past the hand-painted signs and you’ll be greeted by rows of vibrant greens, rainbow-colored fruits, and the warm smell of fresh sourdough and Balinese coffee drifting through the morning air.

Here’s a taste of what’s usually on offer:

  • Organic fruits and vegetables (locally grown, often picked just hours before)
  • Fresh herbs and spices (fragrant bundles of lemongrass, turmeric, basil)
  • Homemade breads and pastries (some gluten-free or vegan)
  • Small-batch chocolates, nut butters, and jams
  • Organic skincare and handmade soaps
  • Children’s snacks and eco-friendly toys
  • Locally roasted coffee and teas
  • Zero-waste lifestyle goods and refills

Most vendors are small family farms or home-based producers from Ubud and nearby villages. Chatting with them is half the fun. Ask how the veggies were grown, where the cacao is sourced, or what makes their turmeric oil different—and they’ll light up.

More than just shopping

It’s also a place to slow down. To sip a fresh green juice, nibble on a coconut muffin, and watch barefoot kids play while their parents browse. It’s Ubud at its best—authentic, conscious, a little quirky, and beautifully slow-paced.

Many people come just to reconnect with familiar faces. Regulars will tell you that it’s less about groceries and more about community. A little check-in with the people who grow your food and share your values.
