Deepak Chopra was born in New Delhi, India, on October 22, 1946. He grew up in a family of medical professionals and received his education at St. Columba's School in New Delhi. Chopra pursued his medical degree from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, focusing on endocrinology with an interest in the interplay between mind and body.

Career Beginnings in Medicine

Chopra moved to the United States in 1970, where he completed residencies in internal medicine and endocrinology. He became board-certified in internal medicine in 1973, specializing in endocrinology. His career in medicine included teaching positions at Tufts University, Boston University, and Harvard University's medical schools, and he served as the chief of staff at New England Memorial Hospital.

Transition to Holistic Medicine

A significant turning point in Chopra's career occurred in the 1980s after meeting Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, leading him to explore spirituality and medicine. He founded the Maharishi Ayurveda Health Center and later co-founded the Chopra Center for Wellbeing, integrating his medical knowledge with holistic approaches.

Chopra is recognized globally as a pioneer in integrative medicine and personal transformation. He has held prestigious roles such as Clinical Professor of Family Medicine and Public Health at the University of California, San Diego, and senior scientist with the Gallup Organization. His work intersects science and spirituality, aiming to transform personal health and wellbeing.

Literary Contributions and Public Recognition

Deepak Chopra is an accomplished author, with over 90 books translated into over forty-three languages, many of which are New York Times bestsellers. His book "Metahuman: Unleashing Your Infinite Potential" is a notable example of his philosophy. His appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show further amplified Chopra's influence, leading to significant book sales and public recognition. TIME magazine lists him as one of the century's top 100 heroes and icons.

Foundations and Business Ventures
