Natalia Kala Fernandez, MBA, FMCHC

Early Life and Education

Natalia Fernandez was born in Miami Beach, Florida, USA on December 25, 1996 as a first-generation Cuban-American. She grew up with 9 brothers and sisters, with her father delivering half of her siblings as an OBGYN Medical Doctor. She started her undergraduate studies at IE University in Madrid, Spain, and finished her degree at Flagler College in Florida with a major in Political Science and a minor in Marketing. Fernandez pursued her MBA in Sustainable Business at the Maharishi International University, with a focus on Consciousness-Based Education and Social Sustainability. As Fernandez studied remotely, she traveled the world and also enrolled at the Functional Medicine Coaching Academy, in partnership with the Institute for Functional Medicine, and became a Functional Medicine Certified Health Coach in 2023.

From Diagnosis to Career Change

Fernandez worked part-time at her father’s doctor’s office over the course of 10 years, with particular focus in the supplements store. When Fernandez was diagnosed with Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD) - a cyclical, hormonal mood disorder in 2017, it was a defining point not only in her personal life, but her career. Determined to transform her adversity into opportunity through the arts, Fernandez started her company, the Kali Clinic, in 2020. Initially, it was meant to spread awareness around PMDD with her story, due to the lack of awareness in the medical field. However, her curiosity brought her to uncovering the root cause of premenstrual and menstrual disorders… generational sexual violence.

Healing with Functional Medicine

Within her Functional Medicine Coaching Program, she learned the importance of addressing the mental, emotional and spiritual health of the individual, and sought out answers of why so many females suffer from menstrual issues. Through Fernandez’s travels around the world, she discovered ancient wisdoms whilst meeting healers that utilized cutting-edge technologies. After significant lifestyle changes, practicing Transcendental Meditation, and intensive somatic release therapies, in spring 2024, Fernandez cured herself of Mast Cell Activation Syndrome, Endometriosis, and PMDD. Her quality of life was completely transformed from that point forward.

Spearheading Menstrual Mental Health

Fernandez is an award-winning public speaker and educator in Menstrual Mental Health. From early stage data in developing her femtech AI app, she recognized patterns of sexual violence as precursors for PMDD (Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder), Endometriosis and PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome). The Kali Clinic’s mission is to heal the world, one period at a time, and is accomplishing this with their new international campaign: End Campus Sexual Violence. Fernandez is raising awareness with university students on the alarming statistics of intimate partner violence, and preventative resources through holistic menstrual health education.

Literary Contributions and Public Recognition

Natalia “Kala” Fernandez, MBA, FMCHC is the primary author of the world’s first alcohol-free and non-alcoholic beer certification, leading the wellness section that features content on how alcohol disproportionately affects females to males, and its relation to histamines. Fernandez is a domain expert of a children’s book on destigmatizing menstruation, called Lil’ Dee of Planet Zee, and has been featured on multiple publications, including NASDAQ at the age of 23.

Lil’ Dee of Planet Zee: A Journey to Destigmatize Menstruation

The story of Lil’ Dee of Planet Zee takes young readers on an adventure to Planet Zee, where all beings are curious and kind. Lil’ Dee is a little girl from Planet Zee who is visiting Earth to learn about human bodies, especially how they grow and change. Along the way, she meets a group of friends who are excited to share what they’ve learned about periods and how it’s a natural, wonderful part of life. Together, they explore how talking openly about menstruation helps everyone understand it better, making it less scary and more empowering for girls all around the world. Through fun illustrations and simple language, Lil’ Dee teaches children how important it is to take care of their bodies and respect others. By the end of the story, Lil’ Dee’s message is clear: periods are powerful, natural, and nothing to be ashamed of.

Foundations and Business Ventures

Fernandez founded the Kali Clinic, which helps people rewrite the stories of abuse, break the cycle of chronic illness, and transcend to higher states of emotional, mental, and spiritual health. She is a current member of the International Association for Premenstrual Disorders, and is the no-code builder and solo-founder of the femtech AI app, myKali (launching in November 2024).
