Ram Giri Baba

The yogi who took enlightenment personally

Ram Giri didn’t so much find the spiritual path as collide with it, face first, heart open. Born in post-war Germany in 1951, his early life was colored by generational trauma, existential questions, and a deep, gnawing desire to end suffering. Most people deal with depression by talking to a therapist, Ram Giri became one, and then went looking for something deeper.

From the ashes of history to the foot of the Himalayas

In the early 70s, a young Ram Giri took a bold leap, leaving Europe for India in search of truth. There he met Neem Karoli Baba, Maharajji, a master of unconditional love and chill blankets. That meeting would alter the course of his life. Spoiler, it led to enlightenment, or at least, to a lifelong devotion to love, self-realization, and sharing profound inner wisdom with others.

Yogi, monk, Ph.D. enlightenment nerd

Over the following decades, Ram Giri didn’t just meditate in the Himalayas, he went all in. He became a monk, studied with the 16th Karmapa and masters of Vipassana like Goenka and Munindra, and somehow earned both an MA and a Ph.D. in transpersonal psychology along the way. Yes, he really is that committed to self-discovery (and possibly to avoiding small talk).

The birth of HeartSourcing, wisdom for modern humans

After four decades of intense practice, Ram Giri distilled his life’s work into HeartSourcing, a contemporary path to self-liberation through the spiritual heart. His book, HeartSourcing: Finding Our Way to Love and Liberation, is part memoir, part guide, and all heart. It's not about escaping life, it's about showing up fully, transforming pain, and becoming a wellspring of unconditional love.

The healing is personal, literally

Ram Giri isn’t just a spiritual teacher, he’s a licensed mental health counselor, clinical hypnotherapist, and addictions specialist. Translation, he knows how to ground the mystical in the practical. Whether it’s trauma, heartbreak, or garden-variety human confusion, Ram Giri’s approach is deeply empathetic, clinically sound, and infused with spiritual clarity.

Auschwitz, awakening, and the ultimate stress test

In perhaps his most jaw-dropping chapter, Ram Giri traveled to Auschwitz, yes, that Auschwitz, to test the methods of HeartSourcing in the heart of historical trauma. The result, a radical realization of love’s unshakable presence. If that’s not spiritual street cred, we don’t know what is.

Mentor to many, student of love

Today, Ram Giri offers spiritual mentoring, retreats, and online programs to seekers worldwide. His teaching blends ancient wisdom, modern psychology, and generous doses of compassion (and the occasional cosmic joke). He’s collaborated with luminaries like Byron Katie, Ram Dass, and Krishna Das, but his favorite teacher might just be your own awakened heart.

Curious, Ram Giri might be your spiritual GPS

Whether you’re looking to transcend trauma, quiet the monkey mind, or just breathe a little easier, Ram Giri’s guidance is the real deal, authentic, embodied, and refreshingly human.
