good spas come in small spaces in santa monica

Petite Spa, an intimate feast for the senses, is quickly becoming a favorite Westside wellness go-to. Balance and beauty greet you the minute you walk through the door as calming music and aromatherapy swirl throughout the charming, cozy 1920s space. The décor of lavender hues envelops you as you taste refreshing complimentary organic teas and treats. Director of Aesthetics Lisa Lianna Mayer is committed to using mostly organic products and incorporating locally grown seasonal fruits and veggies into her spa treatments. Whether you’re seeking a complete facial treatment or a soothing massage, Petite Spa offers an exquisite experience.

One of their standout lines is Organic Skin Food from Dr. Alkaitis. Made with living ingredients, these products do not contain any synthetics or harsh chemicals, they’re not tested on animals, and Dr. Alkaitis products are shipped to Petite Spa within two weeks of development, ensuring absolute freshness. During my Organic Facial, the aesthetician actually encouraged me to lick my lips and taste the edible, organic honey mask. This certified, wild-crafted line is so pure and clean you can literally eat it!

Petite Spa offers a variety of other facials, including the Mini Facial and the Acne Facial, plus specialized add-ons like the Hot Enzyme Peel or the Hydrating Paraffin Mask. All facials are 60–75 minutes and include a face, shoulder and décolleté massage.

If you prefer massaging to polishing, then try the luxurious skin treatment More Than a Massage. Create a Custom Organic Blend comprised of ingredients from local farmers’ markets that are then blended with your choice of essential oils. This mixture provides a shift of perception, with scents that include rosemary, sage, lemon, chamomile and eucalyptus, to name a select few.

With your senses fully captivated, stretch out onto a table lined with natural-fiber blankets and choose a massage ranging from soft and relaxing to vigorous or deep. The menu of body treatments includes Body Microdermabrasion, Organic Sea Salt Scrubs and Body Wraps. And don’t mistake the Chai Tea Soy Wrap for a delicious snack; it’s actually a spicy mix of scrubs and lotions that detoxify your system, leaving your skin smooth and kissable.

Petite Spa offers additional services that keep you primped and proper. Expert waxing services are available, spanning from brow shaping to Brazilians; the hair and scalp treatments are designed to soothe with nourishing oils and warm coconut milk; you can also accentuate your features with make-up from GloMinerals, or extend your lashes with their specialty Eye Candy services. These finishing touches are not to be missed before leaving this lovely, lavender sanctuary.

Setting itself apart from larger, more corporate spas, Petite Spa’s unpretentious setting, reasonable prices and exceptional organic treatments prove that good spas do come in small spaces.
