The Berawa area of Canggu is quickly becoming one of Bali’s “eat streets” and Milk & Madu was happy to pave the way in upscale café deliciousness.  Following in the footsteps of its very established older brother Watercress, the “cheeky younger brother” offers fresh comfort food with a bit of healthy on the side. Their menu is tweaked monthly but you can be sure the portions are generous, meals are rich and tasty and deserts are plenty. While not a vegetarian hub in Bali, this café has many options for veggie palates, as well as gluten-free alternatives.

Breakfast is a serious event at Milk & Madu, You’ll find lots of egg options as well as some sweet decadence like french toasts and buttermilk pancakes. For the health-minded, there are all sorts of granola & fruit combinations. Lunch offers huge hearty salads, gourmet burgers, flatbread gluten-free or wheat pizzas and tortilla wraps. The culinary offer is completed by a collaboration with Nalu Bowls – a growing Bali empire based on the açai bowl craze – they operate a cute deck adjacent to the café.

Housed in a modern, open-air joglo structure that opens up to the rice fields, there is a true community feel at Milk & Madu. It draws a mixed young and hip crowd, from the Canggu hipsters in creative meetings to expat families with all their kids running around. There’s even an outdoor garden area where dog-owners can sit with their best friend. This laid-back vibe fits perfectly with the owners who run the café as a family affair, everyone taking on one part of the business. Definitely, a favorite, Milk & Madu does not disappoint.
