hüttenpalast family hotel in berlin

“berlin’s karvan hotel”

Huttenpalast is a quirky, eccentric, and unusual boutique family hotel settled in an old factory in Hobrechtstraße and located up there with other cool places to stay, eat and hang out in the up coming area of Neukolln.

All accommodations, which are all different vintage vans, caravans, huts and bits of a church, are truly unique.

On our arrival, the very welcoming manager Hans showed us around and then to our van.

The rest of the team welcomed us with a smile.

There was a charming small café at the entrance where you can enjoy a full homemade and organic continental breakfast, good coffee as well as delicious granola, soy milk, Chai tea and gluten-free bread!

The outdoor courtyard was also a sweet place to hang out during the day.

Do not let the words “indoor camping” scare you, as the family hotel was extremely cozy with very comfy beds, and shared bathrooms (one for male and one for female) that were absolutely spotless.

There was great hot water pressure and fresh, soft and clean towels.

We stayed in N-Nomad, which was small yet clean and comfortable (see photo above).

The well-traveled Silke Lorenzen and Sarah Vollmer partnered in 2010 to open the family hotel with the original aim to have a cool place to welcome their friends and extended families.

With a maximum capacity of 5 guests, still today, the whole place is run by a team of about 5-8 people, which keeps the family hotel-like atmosphere. Within a few hours you are familiar with everyone’s name.

This small staff facilitates great events and will shift around the furniture to cater up to 50 people for specific parties such as birthdays, fashion shows, meetings, and weddings. You can secure the whole place if you booking in advanced.

If you feel compelled to visit Berlin, and are looking for an atypical experience, Huttenpalast is the way to go. Funky and fun, like Berliners, this family hotel is worth the detour.

The family hotel sleeps 45 people max. There is no low or high season in Berlin, so the hotel is busy all the time. Make sure to book in advance!
