n style="font-size: 14px; color: #000000;">A common misconception is that if you are seeking spiritual enlightenment, then you must renounce the physical, material world. It’s true that the joy that we experience while in meditation can be more intense and pure than the pleasures of the physical world. Yet, we are only human, and crave the kind of happiness that can only come from “worldly” things, like career success and relationships. We feel that we must choose between divine, spiritual love, and worldly happiness. But what if we could have both? In his book, Eternal Dharma, Vishnu Swami—aka the Maverick Monk—believes that it’s possible to find lasting happiness in the physical world, as well as what he calls Passionate Enlightenment. Vishnu Swami believes that, with a little help from the Vedas, the spiritual wisdom of Ancient India that dates back to 5,000 years ago, anyone can find their true purpose in life, follow their dreams, and achieve Passionate Enlightenment. First, we must do a little soul searching to discover our Dharma, or true purpose. Then, once we know what our purpose is in life, we can follow our Dharma with the help of the eight elements. At first glance, Vishnu Swami’s Unprecedented Elemental Reality System sounds like something new, a concept of his own creation. But the elements themselves (which are the physical elements of Earth, Water, Fire, Air, and Ether, and the subtle “elements” of Mind, Intelligence, and Ego), and how to use them, are derived from Vishnu Swami’s knowledge of the Vedas, as well as ancient Chinese philosophy. The trick, he says, is learning how to use the elements to your advantage in both spiritual and worldly pursuits. All of which he outlines and explains in language that is both eloquent and easy to follow. Whether you’re looking to jumpstart your spiritual journey, or are looking for an inspiring and thought-provoking new book to read, Eternal Dharma is an excellent spiritual guide for both mind and soul.
