Yogi Times is out to explore the “hotspots” in our community where yogis can have unusual and unexpected experiences, explore hidden nooks and crannies and discover unique treasures that are off the beaten path. Instead of your everyday trip to the mall, we search for special spots that will appeal to those who are looking for more than the average retail experience. This month we spent the day on scenic Hillhurst Avenue in Los Feliz.

Los Feliz is the hip and sophisticated older sister of Silverlake. If you’ve never ventured east of La Brea, then you might have missed this jewel of a neighborhood. Get your Pilates or yoga on, decompress at a spa, indulge in retail therapy, grab a nutritious and delicious bite, or choose “d”…all of the above!

Note for the neighborhood: Don’t be too fashionably late”¦Meeting up with a friend might take longer if you drive, as well as being less environmentally sound and costing an arm and a leg for gas. Try planning a trip to Hillhurst using alternative modes of transportation.

Catch the Red Line to the Sunset/Vermont station where you can then take a Metro Rapid Bus north through Los Feliz Village. Ambrose Avenue will be to the north, Franklin Avenue to the south. Walk east to Hillhurst Avenue and enjoy the day! Visit MTA.net for other commuter programs such as Park and Ride, Carpool, and Guaranteed Ride Home.
