synchronicity: everyday magic

Synchronicity: Everyday Magic Spirituality

Everyday magic connecting us to the divine is present for all of us. Although it comes and goes as quickly as it appears. Darting and weaving through our lives unpredictably.

Extraordinarily. Inexplicably. Mysteriously. Unexpectedly.

Webster defines synchronicity in a somewhat less than magical way: “The coincidental occurrence of events and especially psychic events that seem related but are not explained by conventional mechanisms of causality.”

Perhaps the definition of synchronicity that many of us would like to see in the dictionary could be contained within this quote:

“I do believe in an everyday sort of magic — the inexplicable connectedness we sometimes experience with places, people, works of art and the like; the eerie appropriateness of moments of synchronicity; the whispered voice, the hidden presence, when we think we’re alone.” ~Charles de Lint

The universe at large is working tirelessly for us to orchestrate new friends, new co-creators, or basically whatever you can’t imagine! Interjecting diversions into our grand plans that we have mapped out so carefully for our lives. Sending us hurtling down a path we could never have envisioned for ourselves.

Synchronicity could be considered synonymous with unpredictability.

The presence of synchronicity is unveiled for us by something seemingly as simple as a sentence spoken indirectly from a stranger. Or the weave can be as complicated as meeting again someone years later that you had a brief interaction and had long since forgotten.

The more we try to control our destiny the more elusive synchronistic experiences become.

Not unlike doorways that open and close to us, then suddenly disappear into the unseen parts of our peripheral vision covered by a dense, milky fog that is suspended just above the ground.

Is synchronicity only hidden because we are too busy with what we think the blueprint for our lives should be?

When we are fully present in the moment and allow the hidden to reveal itself, the essence and magic of synchronicity can almost be experienced by all five senses; taste, touch, smell, sight and sound.

Our synchronistic experiences bring us light, hope and the affirmation that we are headed toward our own true north. This is the grace, the beauty and the magic of the hidden but ever present synchronicity.

Pay close attention and honor all of these magical experiences that have occurred in your life. And now sit quietly listening, awaiting, and welcoming the hidden to reveal itself one more time.

“And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it.” ~ Roald Dahl.
