Yoga Yenta

The ultimate ideal. Achieving nirvana when yin and yang come together and the energy of the universe is reunited. Finding one’s twin flame, soul mate, the perfect union”¦

Sounds fabulous, sign me up! But first, the big challenge for many – how does one find this “other half?” Some readers have written in seeking help (as if I have a clue”¦)

Of course, meeting potential matches is only part of the journey. Learning to experience life with an open heart and an abundance of self love is what ultimately leads us toward sharing our unconditional love with everyone around us. So, when you’re in half moon, and looking around the room for your other half, remember, you’re already complete all by yourself.

Dear Yoga Yenta,

What is the best way to approach a hot yogi babe after class? “I really like your down dog?”

Dear SP,
Uh”¦try again. Post-class pickups can be tricky. During and after yoga, many of us are focused on ourselves and rely on our classes to be a safe space for inward reflection. Cheesy pick up lines, therefore, may not be the right way to go. That said, if you sense a good open vibe, it’s always okay to strike up some natural pre or post-class chit chat to test the waters.

Dear Yoga Yenta,

I’m a single man who really enjoys yoga. Please let me know if there are any special events etc re: meeting single women in their mid 20’s and mid 30’s.

Seeking Single Yogarettes

Dear SSY,

Although I don’t know of any specific events geared toward spiritual singles, yogi-scene functions (chanting concerts, ambient groove musical performances, zen dancing parties) are definitely a fun way to scope out like-minded potential mates. I’m also a big fan of the internet as a tool for projecting intentions and setting them free in the cyber universe – where ancient wisdom meets futuristic technology. It’s pretty easy to find the yogis circulating the online dating sites through their handles – such as “Oneness,” “Ash Tanga,” and even, yes, “Yoga Yenta.” There’s also a new friendster-meets-craigslist-type website especially for the yoga community (yogamates.com). Check it out – it’s only a click away!

Om Shanti & Infinite gratitude,

Yoga Yenta

Dear Yoga Yenta,

Do you look like your drawing/cartoon character?
