Green smoothies are a tasty way to squeeze an extra serving of veggies into your daily diet. This cleansing version combines the sweetness of pineapple and the crisp, cool taste of cucumber with the nutritional powerhouse of kale.

Combine all the ingredients in a high-speed blender and process until smooth. Divide amount two chilled glasses and serve immediately.

Makes about two 12-ounce servings

INGREDIENTS
  • 1 cup diced fresh pineapple
  • 1/2 medium or 1 small sweet apple 
  • 4-inch piece of cucumber (peel if waxed) 
  • 3 to 4 kale leaves (curly or lacinato) 
  • 2 tablespoons hemp seeds or chia seeds, optional
