meditating made easy

how to make it easy and a lot more magical

Meditation = Magical? Is it possible? Or is it just supposed to be really hard?

We get asked this question all the time and no matter what your past experience has been with meditation we are here to help you out a bit, to make your meditations a little less difficult and a lot more magical. And YES this means, even when you are doing an hour-long meditation releasing the karma of your ancestors LOL!

Because news flash… saying you are Type A is no longer an excuse for not meditating, unless you are prepared to stay behind as we bring in the new earth.

Here’s the deal, first thing is you have to find a meditation style that works for you. For us, to get us out of our heads the fastest, clear our subconscious, and have the most effective long-term effects – we use Kundalini Yoga + Meditation.

The breath work, the mantras, the angles and the movement, allow us to do powerful work and get results that show up in our lives quick. We are obssessed to say the least. For us, it is much more doable than sitting in silence or doing some of the other techniques/styles we have tried! We encourage everyone to try out different styles and see what works best for you but if you haven’t tried Kundalini, we highly recommend it.

Next, after you find the style you love that feels best to you it is all about getting in a consistent pattern with it. It’s like if you go to the gym once, going a week later is harder than going the next day and the more you go, the more results you see.

What happens is you start to build momentum energy and that energy carries you and allows you to expend less effort for the same feeling and result. The effects build on each other each time you meditate.

Whether it is just three minutes in the morning, or it’s a 5 am two-hour sadhana, start to establish how consistency is going to look for you and from there you can build this up as a habit. It will get easier the more you do it and getting in a habitual pattern will allow it to flow much easier with that momentum.

If you are just starting out, we suggest 3 minutes of long deep breathing before you do anything else like looking at Instagram or your emails. FYI- meditating or any kind of breath-work before emails and Instagram is what Tim Ferris, author of Tools of Titans, found that all the most successful people he interviewed accredit much of their success to. It is all about setting up your day in the highest vibration, first thing when you wake up, before the world can piss you off 🙂

Ok so you have decided on a meditation style and you choose how and when you will be consistent with it. Now what?

You might be thinking, “Is this where the unicorns and rainbows enter?” Answer: Almost…

Next, is making sure you are comfortable and supported. If you’re not comfortable and don’t feel supported with meditation it is like running a marathon without training, a water backpack, and goop….basically a quick road to quitting before the 10th mile.

So to keep you in the “race,” (that is the race of being your most badass, spiritual warrior self ever), this is one of the most important steps.

Here is how to make sure you are comfortable and feeling that high vibe support energy. Get a pillow or blanket to sit on, if your core isn’t strong enough yet sit up against a wall, use a guided meditation (yes we have free ones – just join our 7 Day Raise Your Vibration Challenge for the hook up there), have water next to you, use oils and burn the palo santo or sage before you start. Whatever you need basically to keep you happy and your body feeling good.

From that comfortable, supported place you will be able to have a better mindset and endurance to go through the emotions and challenges that may or may not come up, from a much more graceful, less neurotic place during your meditation. From that place is where you make changes on a cellular level and where the grey-matter density in the hippocampus, known to be important for learning and memory, and in structures associated with self-awareness, compassion, and introspection is increased and decreased in the amygdala, which is known to play a significant role in anxiety and stress – from a no big deal Harvard MRI study.

To sum it up…commit to something, do it everyday, feel good doing it and then you will inevitably join our mission to elevate the globe.

Cue in the angels, butterflies, unicorns, a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow and anything else that says magic to you. Meditation just got a whole lot better…you’re welcome yogi friends.
