a skeptic’s mini-guide for contacting your loved ones on the other side

Let’s all suspend disbelief for a few moments, and consider the possibility that our deceased loved ones are not really gone – they are just different now. And as we are in the spirit of suspended disbelief – let’s see if we can get in touch with them. Not to disturb their rest, for they are in a place where they are keeping busy with their lives (yes, there’s life after physical life – and you’re going with me on this for the length of this article, right? It’s not very long).

There’s nothing that will give your deceased relatives and friends more pleasure than knowing that you, their loved one on earth, are fine. That you’ve continued with your life and that you will do something good with it until you meet again. They’d like to know that you are not grieving, sad, mourning, aching. They’d like to prove to you that they are not really ”˜dead’, they are just in spirit form. They’d love to get in touch with you, briefly, just to reassure you.

So, what do you need to do in order to be able to hear from them?

Well, firstly, you need to ask.

You can ask out loud, or in your heart, or best, just before you go to sleep, for in our sleep the veil between the two worlds, theirs and ours, is easier to cross.

Then, once you’ve asked, you need to actually listen.

Forget Ghostbusters and Poltergeist 1, 2 and 3 – this is Hollywood BS. The reality (while we are still in a state of suspended disbelief) is that your deceased loved one will neither jump on you from behind the shower curtain, nor haunt your house. They just want you to know that they are well, that they are not completely gone and that they still care for you, even if they’ve now continued their journey and are busy with their own stuff.

So if open your mind, your ears and your eyes, even your nose, you might sense this contact from your loved one. Perhaps in a song on the radio, the smell in a crowded room or a whisper in the wind, your loved one will tell you that they are still with you, and they always will be, until you meet again.

Now, you can stop suspending disbelief, and you can try and see for yourself. Would it not change your perception of life if you knew that indeed, this was possible? I know it has changed mine.

Lastly, how will you know this contact is for real?

Although of course you can frequent mediums, visit fortune-tellers and drink herbal tea with Tibetan monks, in my mind there is no better proof than the proof I can sense for myself,  and this might be the case for you, too, especially if you are somewhat skeptic about these things. So go ahead, give it a go. There’s nothing strange about it, for many have sensed their deceased loved ones in moments of need in their lives, and you can, too.
