When you’re in search for a healthy organic breakfast, lunch or brunch and don’t feel like preparing something at home, but still want to have that cosy feeling of being at home, this is the perfect place! It’s like walking into a country-house kitchen and living room all in one. Three lovely, friendly women are the owners of Beter & Leuk and can often be found in the open kitchen preparing all delicious meals while making you feel at home instantly.

Their motto is to ”˜Serve Good Food for You’. When enjoying the homemade granola with blackberry and apple compote, it definitely feels like that! Beter & Leuk aims to use mainly biological, seasonal and local products and serves vegetarian, vegan and gluten free food. While waiting for your freshly prepared buckwheat pancakes with date-cream, fresh fruit, chia seeds and soy based Chai Tea latte, you can have a look in the back of the shop, where they sell art, clothes, jewellery and books.

Highly recommended is the high tea! You can either choose the ”˜classic one’ that serves delicious homemade scones with cottage cream, biological jam and an awesome selection of homemade cakes, or the ”˜healthy one’ for those who prefer a salad, soup and a selection of (equally awesome!) healthy homemade sweets. Both options serve unlimited tea and your choice of a freshly squeezed juice or smoothie. It’s also possible to request a gluten free and/or vegan option. Do make a reservation, if you wish to go on a high tea date with your lover, mom or friends!

For those who are in a rush: they recently opened a take-away shop right next door, so you can bring your fresh ginger-lemon tea and Halloumi burger with quinoa salad, roasted vegetables and avocado straight to work or just enjoy your meal on a bench next to the Amstel, Amsterdam’s biggest river, which is at the end of the street.

Check out their website to see when the variety of workshops, such as ”˜Yoga and Food’ are scheduled!
