how fashion got its soul back
A lot happened for Yogi Times this summer! We moved into a more spacious and efficient office space, launched a new magazine and expanded our team to include a new associate editor, a San Francisco editor and three new members of our advertising sales team. Thanks to the ongoing support of the community and our advertisers, Yogi Times continues to grow, as does our ability to provide a valuable resource for people who are seeking a healthy holistic lifestyle.

One of the most exciting accomplishments we’ve enjoyed is the premier of our newest publication, Yogi Times BUSINESS, which is being sent out all over the country even as I write these words. Launching a new magazine while publishing our usual San Francisco and Los Angeles editions of Yogi Times was no small task but the knowledge that we are living up to our commitment to provide stimulation, inspiration and valuable resources to the members of our growing community made all of the hard work worthwhile. As the first national trade magazine of its kind, the mission of Yogi Times BUSINESS is to provide yoga teachers and entrepreneurs in the yoga and related industries with an invaluable resource to assist them in building durable, sustainable and profitable businesses while promoting a healthy balanced society. Because we ourselves had to find our own way through many ups and downs of building a start up company, we designed Yogi Times BUSINESS to offer much needed support to those who share our vision of a society and a business culture that thrive on partnership, openness and prosperity.

This month’s focus on ECO-FASHION allowed us to have a lot of fun. We were blessed with the opportunity to work with some brilliant photographers, designers, models and stylists and more than once we felt as though we were kids again playing dress-up in our parents’ closets and make up drawers. The most important lesson I learned from putting this issue together is that living in harmony with nature doesn’t have to mean giving up glamour and style. Clothing can be a wonderful mode of self-expression. Wearing garments that express a deep respect for nature and for life broadcasts to the world our commitment to shifting the consciousness of our culture without giving up the pleasures and creative outlets we have grown to enjoy. We are delighted to be able to spotlight some of the incredibly creative and committed people and businesses that are putting so much effort into sustaining our environment while providing us all with the opportunity to express our own unique style.

So, my advice to you is, let your inner light shine and don’t be afraid to strap on your vegan pumps, vintage cocktail dress and certified organic undies and go out and paint the town “green!”

Namaste,
