camel
(Ushtrasana)

OK, I’ll come clean: Yogidoggi just loves a good back bend. It stretches out my furry tummy and keeps my spine nice and flexible. Ustrasana, or Camel is a personal favorite of mine, so I thought I’d tell you about it today:
Come into a kneeling position. Come up so your buttocks come off your heels and your upper body is straight. Inhale deeply, lifting your chest forward, and as you exhale, lean back and place the palms of your hands on your heels. Drop your head back, and lift your chest. Push your hips forward and bask in the happiness of a wonderful backbend for at least five breaths! Wag your tail for joy! To come out, inhale and lift the body up, then come into child’s pose to rest.
Tip: if your hands can’t reach the heels, curl the toes under to lift the heels closer to your hands, or simply run the hands down the back of the thighs for support.
