capturing yoga
It is difficult to believe that three years have come and gone since I first put fingers to keyboard, working on the debut issue of the Yogi Times; yet it feels like I have been through a lifetime’s worth of experiences and lessons in that short time. Thanks to the overwhelming support of the community that has come in the form of phone calls, letters and emails of praise and helpful criticism, commitments to advertising, volunteering at our events and simply picking up the magazine and participating in the community that we are striving to bring together. Your support is making my dream come true and for that I am immeasurably grateful.

With all of the gifts and blessings of success we have enjoyed since we brought Yogi Times to life, perhaps the most gratifying has been the opportunity to work with the inspiring group of people who comprise the Yogi Times family. We have laughed together and cried together. We have breathed, expanded and forgiven, all the while learning to embrace detachment and somehow stay focused on the bigger picture. Watching these exceptional people grow and blossom as a result of the interactions and experiences that are part of their work here has been worth every tense deadline, every challenge, every obstacle that I have faced along the way.

As we celebrate our anniversary, we look back with pride at what we have accomplished and look to the future with anticipation and optimism. We continue to grow with the upcoming debut of our new trade publication, Yogi Times Business Magazine and the Yogi Times Insider, our online newsletter.* We have devoted this issue to exploring and celebrating beauty and power that yoga can bring into our lives. In our cover story, we assigned our writer to “capture yoga,” to go out and discover the place yoga occupies in the lives of everyday people. We wanted to know what victories have been won in people’s lives as a result of yoga’s lessons and wisdom. We’ve explored meditation, asana and bringing the serenity of yoga into your home. As always, I trust that you will find inspiration and education within these pages.

Looking back on my experience since the start of this endeavor, I think that the most profound lesson I have learned is that when action, commitment and passion come together, magic happens and the whole course of your life can shift, catapulting you into a place where dreams become reality and life becomes a grand adventure.
