WHAT'S NEW

YT Oct CoverGreetings!

Art is the way that we interpret our place in the world around us by depicting its countless aspects through the lens of our unique and infinite imaginations. For individuals on a spiritual path, art can become a way to express the creative energy inherent in the universe that flows through each of us.

The October issue of YogiTimes is devoted to the power of art to express universal divinity regardless of the cultural, religious, societal or geographical backgrounds of the artists. The six artists featured in this month’s issue represent a wide variety of backgrounds and nationalities yet they all acknowledge through their art the common thread of humanity that exists in all of us. We trust that you’ll be inspired by their work and that you’ll enjoy and find value in all of the regular information and features to be found in Yogi Times.

Spirituality, Art and the Unity of All Mankind

By Siddhartha V. Shah
Photography by Jasper Johal

If it were possible to transport ourselves through time and space, to the very origin of human life and, thus, the human need for expression, we would find one very potent truth that underlies virtually all of mankind’s most brilliant creations: the celebration of the Divine through beauty and creativity. From the primitive cave paintings of Lascaux featuring animals and human forms to the awesome pyramids of Egypt, in every remote region on earth, we have sought to speak of that which is greater through form – in poetic language, devotional music and, of course, through art. Creating a Sacred Family Bedroom

By Jagatjoti Khalsa
Photography by Jasper Johal

The notion of the family bed may seem strange to those who view the bedroom as a place for romance and sensuality. However, just as romance is an integral part of loving relationships, peace is an integral part of familial relationships. When we dedicate our bedroom to familial bonding and spirituality, we strengthen our connection to our spouse and children, as well as set a tone of restoration that benefits every aspect of our lives.

YOGA TIP
yoga tipWhen practicing yoga you may tend to clench the jaw and tighten the face in the more challenging postures. One way to help the face and jaw relax is to flutter the lips, making a sound like a horse. The jaw and face will immediately become peaceful. Once the face is relaxed continue with a steady and auditory, ujjayi breath.
