WHAT'S NEW
Greetings,
Spring is upon us and in honor of this season of renewal when nature
gives birth to a new generation of colorful flowers and fuzzy blinking
newborns of countless species, we have decided to devote our April
issue to children and family. Covering a wide variety of topics, this
issue addresses many of the challenges, joys and fears that every
parent faces. You’ll see tips about how to encourage your kids to
cooperate with you, information about how to boost your family’s
immunity through diet and eliminating environmental contaminants, as
well as a new perspective on how to let go of expectations and
surrender to the process of childbirth. This issue is packed with great
natural and organic products for the whole family, even the four
legged ones!
Parenthood can be an intimidating thing and it is often fraught with
fears and anxiety. In putting this issue together, our intention was to
show that from the inevitable difficulties and hurdles that are an
inherent part of raising a child, come the most profound growth and
love that we might ever experience in our lives. Be sure to pick up
your copy before they’re all gone and don’t hesitate to
send us your thoughts. We love receiving your letters at
info@yogitimes.com and hearing your feedback.

ARTICLE SNEAK PEAK
Zen and the Art of Parenting
by Anna Getty
Parenthood is perhaps the longest, most perilous, wondrous, terrifying,
ecstatic journey available to us as human beings. It introduces us to a
love stronger than anything we have ever imagined, a love so
overwhelming that it is at times shocking while simultaneously pushing
us to our full capacity for patience, tolerance, courage, wisdom and
perseverance. Parenthood tests and challenges every preconception
we hold about the world around us, and our place in it. Parents’
eyes see the world entirely different from the way they saw it before
becoming the custodians of a miraculous, utterly dependent, little ball
of life. Priorities change dramatically. Read

The Perfect Birth: Letting Go of Expectation
by Angelica Singh & Heather Turgeon
In the middle of a February night earlier this year, a mother-to-be and
her labor team drove through sheets of rain to Alta Bates hospital in
Berkeley, Cali. The mother, Michelle Johnson, sat upright in the back
seat of the Honda CRV, her hands propping her up to relieve the
pressure on her abdomen. From the passenger seat, her husband Sean kept
one hand on her leg, helping her breath through contractions as he also
tried to calm his father, who was passing stoplights and speeding
through the streets. Read

EASY GREEN LAUNDRY TIP
Putting the Freeze on Global Warming
Save energy by cooling your rinse cycle. Setting the wash to COLD is easy on energy but tough on dirt. Also try non-toxic softners, chlorine-free bleach, biodegradable dryer-sheets and detergents.
